Smoking in Spain is historyÂ
We are happy to announce that tourist no longer have to worry about very smokey restaurants or cafes in Spain. Starting January 1st 2011, the Government of Spain has passed a new Non Smoking law that prohibits smoking in public places. This includes restaurants, cafes, airports, trains, etc. The fines announced by the government make us think that most places will abide by the new law.
While many believe it will impact businesses, the experience in other countries has proven that people will adapt to the new situation.
For those who have visited Spain in the past, you will notice a big difference. Having tapas next to a smoker is history..so come and enjoy your holidays in Spain. By the way, bear in mind that hotels are forced to allow at least 70% of their rooms to be non smoking. In case of a dispute or need to make a complaint, you can use the site nofumadores.org
