Excursion to Sephardic Girona10 hours |
There is evidence that Jews have been present in this area as far back as the 9th century, but the community really began to flourish two centuries later. Today, Girona's lovely cobbled alleyways and arches offer a glimpse into the atmosphere of the juderÃa at that time, whereas other monuments, such as the cathedral and Arab baths, illustrate how Girona was a cultural melting pot. Nearby Besalú originated as a fortress between Fluvià and Capellades rivers and is home to a fortified bridge, a picturesque main square, and the rare Jewish Miqwé baths. On the 10 hour-long Excursion to Sephardic Girona and Besalú you'll visit two centers of Jewish culture in Cataluña. First you'll visit Girona, a charming town situated along the banks of the Onyar river and with an extensive and lovely juderÃa (Jewish quarter) that includes the Patio de la Estrella and the Jewish history museum, housed in the old synagogue. From Girona you'll drive to nearby Besalú, a small town that still maintains its Jewish baths.

"Hi Jen, I have been meaning to tell you how it went as well. We are very pleased with all the arrangements you made. We like Miguel and Angel too. They both are very nice and knowledgable but I have to say that Angel in Barcelona is our favorite. He has such a pleasant and easy going personality. If we decide or know someone else going to Spain, we definitely will refer them to you."Â --Evi, October 2007 Read more testimonials
