Days 1-4: Madrid (3 nights)Welcome to this fabulous city. Today is an easy day so you can check in, get aquainted, relax and rest. We will give plenty of recommendations on how to ease into the city as well as provide you with dinner reservations on request. On the second day, you'll hop on the train for a guided tour of Toledo, covering the city's vast history as well as seeing the highlights of resident painter El Greco. Upon your return in the afternoon, we'll meet with you to go over your itinerary, followed by an orientation walk and tapas tour. Day three is a free day for you to explore the great art collections of the Prado Museum and Royal Palace on your own. OPTIONAL: Guided tour of the Prado and palace. |
Days 4-6: Sevilla (2 nights)On day four, you'll travel to Sevilla by train, check in to your hotel, then meet your guide to discover this gorgeous and exuberant city, once the port of entry for all the gold and silver from the Americas. You'll explore the beautiful cathedral, the third largest in the world, and take a stroll through the picturesque Barrio de Santa Cruz. Tonight is Flamenco night and day four is free for you to see the Alcázar or one of the other options we'll recommend. You're in AndalucĂa, the land once occupied by Moors, giving it a very distinct flair today. |
Days 6-8: Ronda (2 nights)During the next two days you'll venture into the sierras of southern AndalucĂa to visit the whitewashed hill towns where Arabs and Christians once fought their battles, each town with its own unique charm. You'll sleep in Ronda, a town that will seduce you with its impressive gorge and captivating views. The bullring in Ronda is one of the oldest in Spain and the city is famed as the birthplace of some of the best bullfighters. OPTIONAL: A driving tour of the whitewashed villages. |
Days 8-10: Granada (2 nights)There's no question that the Alhambra is one of the gems of Spain. This last stronghold of the Moors in Spain is a complexity of exquisite palaces and gardens sitting on an outcropping with gorgeous views of the mountains. Two days in Granada is enough to really soak in the city's Arabic flair. On your second day, you'll have a guided tour of the Alhambra. Exploring the Albaycin neighborhood on your own and tapa hopping are some of the other highlights of the city. |
Days 10-12: Barcelona (2 nights)On day 10, you'll fly to Barcelona in the morning, then have a guided tour of the Gothic quarter in the afternoon. This will give you a general overview of the city so you can tour monuments on your own the following day. The famous markets, the Ramblas and GaudĂ architecture are some of the highlights in this popular European destination. For you museum lovers--whether of chocolate or fashion or art--there is something for everyone. |
